Quebec City (Quebec) 13 November 2014 – The preparations for this years ‘Carnaval de Québec’ are underway and last night Nov. 12, at the Remparts hockey game in the old Pepsi Colisée, the seven women who will be this years duchesses were introduced to the public.
Even the girls themselves didn’t know who would be chosen, so it was fresh news to everyone. Each one of the girls in the running represents a borough of Quebec City and Lévis.
The seven contestants competing for the top spot as Queen of the Carnival are; Marie-Pier Catellier-Savard, 23 (Beauport), Anne-Marie Roberge, 25 (des Rivières), Valérie Beaudoin-Carle, 21 (Lévis), Virginie Gourdeau, 26 (La Haute St. Charles), Frédérique Garneau, 19 (Charlesbourg), Line Bourgeois 34 (La Cité-Limoilou) and Marie-Andrée Boucher, 33 (Sainte-Foy/Sillery/Cap-Rouge).
Each one has a special project of participation during the Carnival, hosting that particular event but, the winner, who will become Queen, will be based solely on the number of Bougies (Carnival Candles) that she can sell at the end of the campaign, making it fair for everyone, since the results will not be based on, age, beauty, or talent.
LifeinQuebec.com wishes good luck to all the contestants and urges the population to get out and buy those candles so that your representative can become La Reine du Carnaval.
Vive le Carnaval.
