Daniel Carr’s two goals fuel Laval Rocket over Utica Comets 5-4

LAVAL, Que. — Daniel Carr scored twice as the Laval Rocket held on for a 5-4 win over the Utica Comets on Wednesday in American Hockey League action.

Jordan Boucher’s goal with less than two minutes left to play was the winner for Laval (9-5-2), the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. Peter Holland and Antoine Waked also scored as the Rocket built a 4-1 lead by the 3:45 mark of the third period.

Alexis D’Aoust cut that lead to 4-2 for Utica (5-7-1), the minor-league club of the Vancouver Canucks, at the 9:38 mark of the third before Michael Carcone and Reid Boucher scored in the final 15 seconds of play. Michael Chaput had found the back of the net earlier in the game.

Michael McNiven made 27 saves for the win and Thatcher Demko stopped 20 shots for the Comets.

Laval went 2 for 5 on the power play and Utica was 0 for 5 with the man advantage.
