Fresh from touring with his 1985 show, Longueuil native Martin Levac was back in Quebec City with his Dance Into The Light show this past weekend.
Le Capitole de Québec played host to the world’s best Phil Collins impersonator and his seven-piece band.
This show gets better and better year on year for this super talented drummer, singer, keyboard player, and composer.
For the Friday night performance the theatre was full, and those lucky enough to have scored a ticket for the sell-out show could be forgiven if they thought they were seeing Phil Collins himself.
So good is Levac that Collins has acknowledged that he is the world’s best impersonator.
He has the voice, mannerisms, drumming skills, keyboard playing skills, and he even looks like him.
Add in that for the show he dresses like him, then you genuinely could be watching the real thing.
Make no mistake though, Martin Levac as Phil Collins IS the real deal!
You’ll be blown away by just how good this guy is.
Packing in 20 songs into a show lasting a little over 2 hours with no intermission is no mean feat.
Audience members in the theatre were dancing in the aisles and bestowed standing ovation after standing ovation in the band’s direction.
Levac has assembled an immense seven-piece band consisting of trombone, saxophone, trumpet, guitars, keyboards, and drums.
They complement the lead singer perfectly, each member given the spotlight from time to time, but do not overshadow the main performer.
Mathieu Groulx deserves a special mention for how he performed in the drum duet with Levac – worth the admission money alone.
Levac was full of energy, bouncing around the stage if the song warranted it, or staying seated for the ballads.
He spent time having fun with each band member. It was clear to see that they were all enjoying themselves.
The singer regularly spoke to the audience, often in stilted French, which only added to the authenticity of the performance.
On this showing, Phil Collins is alive and well.
If you missed him this time around then don’t fret, you’ve only got a year to wait until he’s back in Quebec City.
