QMJHL hands Shawinigan defenceman Charlie Roy a 15-game suspension.
BOUCHERVILLE, Que. — Shawinigan Cataractes defenceman Charlie Roy was handed a 15-game suspension Tuesday for his actions in a game against the Victoriaville Tigres last week.
Roy fell on an opposing player and punched him in the face during a game Saturday night. In announcing the ban, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League said the incident was “violent and devastating.”
The league also noted this was not Roy’s first offence and the opposing player suffered an injury.
Roy, a five-foot-nine 182-pound Quebec City native, has two assists and 11 penalty minutes in five games this season.
